Temporomandibular joint, also known as TMJ, is a joint in your jaw that allows you to move your mouth. There are two temporomandibular joints, one on each side of your head in front of your ears. This allows you to eat, chew, talk, yawn, and even brush your teeth which are very important things we do on a daily basis.
Temporomandibular joint disorder can make it hard to do any of those things. TMJ disorder can be extremely painful without proper treatment. Though the true cause of TMJ disorder is unknown, possibilities include injuries, overbite, excessive gum chewing, stress, and even bad posture.
